The Munster Poker Tour (MPT) is the brainchild of two poker players and long-time friends, Matt Dobbins and Con O’Sullivan. In their 40’s, both are experienced and successful tournament players.

Matt was involved in the taxi industry until recently when he decided to make a career change. ”Teaming up with Connie was a no brainer really” he explains. “Poker was playing a huge role in my life and when the opportunity came along to earn a living doing something I love, I didn’t need to be asked twice. The decision was made even easier due to the fact that I would be working with a close friend and that Connie has established a great reputation in the poker community and poker and integrity go hand in hand for the modern poker player.”

Connie has been organising poker tournaments for the last two years and is looking forward to this new challenge. “My family and I started a poker club in Killarney two years ago in conjunction with our long established snooker club, the Cue Club and so far it’s been a great success” says Connie. “The next natural step is to provide pub players with a game of the same high standard that the club players have come to expect and so the idea of the MPT was born. I would never have been able to have the time to organise and run this myself and having spoken to Matt I found a kindred spirit and his involvement on a full time basis clinched it. Matt loves the game, if he’s not playing or organising a game he’s talking about it and I know that he shares my ideas about giving players a well run tournament and value for money. In our short time on the road there’s no doubt that what we are providing has been badly wanted according to what the players are saying.”
